What is a Red Seal?

Canadian Red Seal tradespersons are some of the highest skilled and respected on the world stage. For Carpentry, it takes 4 years to obtain through practical and technical training. After acquiring all previous levels and  after 7200 in field documented hours working under their accomplished Journeyperson/ Red Seal, the tradesperson is then allowed to write the InterProvincial Examination, and if passed with a minimum grade of 70% the individual then achieves a Red Seal in their respected trade. What’s our qualifications?

TRICONN inspections is trying to raise the bar of Manitoba home inspectors. A inspector must obtain or hold a Red Seal in Carpentry.  A Carpenters job is too know the ins and out of the house, from the foundation to the finish work. Communicating with other trades such as Plumbers or Electricians has become a natural skill set that most Carpenters can develop within their career and have naturally become the on site leaders of major commercial or residential job sites. We are first on site and last off.  TRICONN Inspectors must also hold a accreditation with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNachi) as a Certified Professional Inspector® (Or similar accrediation.) Internachi is one of the biggest educators in the Home Inspections industry. Learn more about InterNachi

What qualifications does a home inspector need?

The rules are different across Canada.  Within Alberta and British Colombia a prospective home inspector must pass a government approved examination before they can obtain a license. But within the rest of Canada generally it is a un regulated field with only a few big international names that provide training and certification. Unfortunately within Manitoba no real accreditation is required to set up a business as a home inspector. It is up too you, the consumer to ask questions and do your due dilligence.
